Hi! I'm Miyu

- an international performing artist who loves telling stories through dance.
Here's a little bit more about me beyond my bio and resume...
I was born in Tokyo, Japan, where my passion for performing was sparked when I was cast in an educational TV show on a Japanese public broadcaster at the age of two. Ever since then, I kept begging my parents to let me join a production or receive formal dance training, until they finally signed me up for a ballet class at the age of nine. Throughout the rest of my childhood and teenage years, I took every opportunity to follow my passion for dance, music, and acting.
Between the ages of 15 and 18, I completed my high school education in New Zealand, where I lived with over 10 different host families while continuing to study dance and actively participating in school theater productions, choir, and competitions. I love drawing from the experience of living in completely different households when developing my acting and characterizations.
After returning to Tokyo, I completed a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on management and entrepreneurship at Gakushuin University, while performing and competing as a cheerleader. My academic background also shaped how I work in rehearsal spaces—I approach each project with clarity of purpose, shared values, and commitment to creating environments where teams communicate openly and move together toward a common goal. Cheerleading taught me pressure management, resilience, execution, and trust within a team. While I loved the power of cheerleading to energize an entire space, I eventually decided to shift my focus back to theatrical performances, as I realized that my greatest passion and strength as a performer lies in storytelling and portraying characters and emotions — especially through dance.
I trained at Broadway Dance Center in New York during the summer of 2025. I am currently preparing for an upcoming performance contract and continue to pursue opportunities internationally.
I'm an outgoing person who is always open to new experiences. I love talking to people from different communities, industries, and backgrounds — even strangers — and I genuinely enjoy making new friends from all over the world and of all ages!
Whether I'm walking into a rehearsal, dance class, audition, or even an economy seat on a plane, I can't remember a single space where I didn't make new friends. (Don't worry though, I definitely know how to read a room too—I did grow up in Tokyo after all 😉) These conversations and connections are also how I recharge and find inspiration as a performer.
When I'm not working or training, you'll likely find me eating out with friends or occasionally escaping to nature. I approach both work and life with versatility and an international mindset, always looking at core values rather than just following "norms" — knowing that what's "normal" can be completely different from person to person.
